Original Synth is a product and identity system project I designed and developed with the DIY musician in mind. I created and executed the product, branding, and packaging. The idea behind this design was to create a MIDI instrument that could be customized and played in a variety of different ways. Each package comes with highly responsive, tactile arcade buttons that are available in three different colorways. Along with this, Original Synth includes three different panel configurations to adapt to the specific playing style of each user. The design intent behind Original Synth’s wordmark was to elucidate a sense of connectedness between user and product with the orientation of the wordmark’s letterforms. The logomark was created to evoke feelings of electricity, ideation, and innovation.
