Acclimate was an illustration and animation project I designed that was influenced by the Futurisim art movement. I adopted my aesthetic approach to this project much like the founders of Futurism did, where I used geometric shapes to form a greater whole. As F.T. Marinetti stated in his second manifesto while expressing the philosophy behind Futurism, “Everything is in movement, everything rushes forward, everything is in constant change.” This quote encapsulates the aesthetic qualities of this project, as well as the narrative behind it. I tried to illustrate dynamism and movement through the use of perspective and the development of the fictional character I created, Clement Chase. Chase is an ex-fighter pilot who must navigate his way through a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by wild fires and an airborne pathogen that has the human race on the brink of self-destruction. Clement Chase must choose to adapt to this brave new world or risk being eliminated from it like so many before him. If there is any hope for future generations, he must Acclimate.
